Beware! of Phishermen
The web is a giant ocean and we are all small fish roaming its currents and reefs. Unfortunately there are some mean hearted phishermen out there that are looking for ways to hook us and reel the line in. The bate they throw out into the water can take on various forms- but is mostly in the form of email. What they do is send you an email that can look very real and official- it can be from your bank, or from paypal, or any kind of organization that you might have an account that links to monetary information. So this email might say something like, “we have just upgraded our systems to improve your safety. In order to start using the improved system, please use this link to reactivate your account." By clicking the link you are taken to a page that looks real and official, and even the address might look legit - i.e. ww2.paypal-securenew.com.
By logging in to this site you are giving your secret account details to the bad guys- who will promptly log in to you real account and transfer your money to their account.
